About This Walk

See the stores that have weathered Detroit's ups and downs.  Visit the new generation of urban pioneers as they fill in the spaces.  East of Livernois are some of the nicest areas of the city, to the west an established neighborhood on the rise.

The Avenue of Fashion still has clothing stores.  Four galleries grace the street.  Pop up stores are turning into full time shops.  The University of Detroit Mercy and Marygrove College are both involved in energizing this area.

Many restaurants anchor this section:
 Bakers Keyboard Lounge- possibly the first jazz club;
1917 Bistro a successful project initiated by a former police officer;
The Sherwood Forest restaurant were they just spent hundreds of thousands in remodeling;
Good Cakes and Bakes, our new coffee shop with great pastries;
and, by the event we expect to have more opened.

Come see why people, businesses and investment are returning to the city.
